Tracing its origins back to 2017, the Walters, Melin, Burau (WMB) Foundation began with a group of parents providing financial relief to families in need of financial assistance with hockey registration fees and equipment. Cost is the single largest obstacle to playing hockey today. Several generous people recognized that offering young men and women the opportunity to play would have a positive impact.

Since its inception, the WMB Foundation has awarded over $75,000 in athletic scholarships to Middle Tennessee hockey players. Parents and former players who return from college have frequently express their appreciation for how the Foundation has enriched their lives, oftentimes beyond the rink.

As we look ahead in 2024, the WMB Foundation plans to expand its on-ice contributions but also boost its support of the veteran and first-responder hockey communities, as well as provide additional accessibility for the assisted and special-needs communities.
